This year's list includes players from 24 states and eight foreign countries. The players will be honored at the Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet on Nov. 20 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. ![]() 2006 AWGA Junior Girls' Championship The Arkansas Womens' Golf Association celebrated the golden anniversary of its Junior Girls' Championship on July 11th at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock. The evening featured a retrospective of 50 years of Junior golf history, hosted by 1989-1990 junior champion, Lisa Cornwell. Many of the tournament's past champions made their way to the microphone to share personal memories of their time associated with the tournament. The evening was concluded with a video presentation highlighting 50 years of Junior Girls golf. Click here for pictures of the event. Amanda McCurdy Named to Curtis Cup Team Amanda McCurdy has been named to the eight-woman amateur golf team selected to represent the United States at the 2006 Curtis Cup Match, which will be played July 29-30 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon. McCurdy was the runner-up at the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur. She made the cut at the 2005 U.S. Women's Open, finishing tied for 38th. She earned first-team All-SEC and honorable-mention NGCA All-America honors following the 2005-06 season, during which she had two victories -- the 2005 Mercedes Benz and the 2006 Lady Puerto Rico Classic. She is a two-time champion of both the Arkansas Women's Stroke Play and Arkansas Women's Match Play Championships. McCurdy also teamed with Mackenzie to represent the USA at the 2005 Spirit International Amateur Championship, where they finished fifth. McCurdy will be making her second appearance at the United States Women's Open. She shot a two day total of 147 at the USGA sectional qualifier in McKinney, Texas on Monday, June 12. This year’s U. S. Open tournament begins June 29th at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island. You can read the whole article on the USGA website here.
