USGA Senior Women's Championship
Congratulations to AWGA members Tanna Richard, Pam Spikes and Doris Herren. Tanna and Pam qualified for the USGA Senior Women's Championship to be held at the Honors Course in Chattanooga, TN on September 10-15. Doris qualified as the first alternate. Included in the picture are Pam Spikes, medalist Tanna Richard and Liz Skaggs of Texas.
Tanna Richard of Fort Smith shot a six-over par 78 to win the USGA Senior Women's Qualifying at Big Creek C.C. This is the first USGA qualifier for Sr. women to be held in Arkansas. Richard, Pam Spikes (79) of Maumelle and Liz Scaggs (79) of Dallas, TX all advanced to the USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship at The Honors Course near Chattanooga, Tennessee Sept. 10-15. Doris Herren (81) of Cave Springs is the first alternate after defeating Janis Clemens (81) of Springfield, MO in a playoff. And there was a bit of history involved, one of the players, Lisa Lind Holton of KS is the daughter of the 1st USGA Jr. Boy's Amateur Champion. Dean Lind won in 1948.
